Why it was built

Built for a developer or builder that needs landowners, partners and investors to trust how it reads a site. The site has to explain its process through projects and bring in inquiries about sites and ideas.

The sample business

LOFT is a Los Angeles developer that finds overlooked sites and turns them into the buildings their blocks were missing. Landowners, partners and the city judge a developer by how it reads a site, so the site walks through its four moves (find, frame, build, open) on three concept projects.

What the site does

  • Presents three concept projects, YARD / 4TH, FORM / WEST and ATLAS / ROW, each with its own page
  • Gives every project its facts, the question it answers, a thesis and three moves
  • Slides between the warehouse as found and as rebuilt on YARD / 4TH
  • Sets out find, frame, build and open as stacked panels that shrink and dim as the next arrives
  • Seats four disciplines around one table on the studio page
  • Takes an inquiry that starts from a site, an idea or a hard problem, with checks

Pages

  • Home — animated opening, manifesto, projects on a sideways track and a building drawn on scroll
  • Work — the three projects as a list, plus what the company looks for in a site
  • Project pages — facts, the question, a thesis and three moves, with a before and after slider on one
  • Process — the four moves as stacked panels, then the four ideas that hold them together
  • Studio — four disciplines around one table and the partners the company builds with
  • Start a project — an inquiry that starts from a site, an idea or a hard problem

How it moves

  • A counter runs as an orange skyline rises, then the hero lifts letter by letter on a survey grid
  • An axonometric building draws itself from site line to frame, facade and lit windows as you scroll
  • The three projects slide sideways on a pinned track with a counter and progress bar
  • The marquee follows the scroll's speed, direction and skew
  • An orange panel rises between pages

Who it suits

  • Real estate developers and builders
  • General contractors and construction companies
  • Adaptive reuse and renovation firms
  • Real estate investment groups looking for sites and partners

Make it yours

Your company name, logo, projects, photos, process and team go in, with a page for each project. Connect your domain and send the inquiry form to your email. One idea: add a leasing page for a building that is about to open.

  • Use it as isYour name, logo, photos and details go in, your domain is connected, and it opens with this design.
  • Build on itKeep what works for you and we change the rest around your business: layout, colors, pages and features.

The business is fictional: names, addresses and phone numbers are samples. The site itself works as you see it.
