Why it was built

Built for a small chef-led counter or tasting-menu restaurant with set seatings, where every seat counts. The site has to explain the evening, show each menu course by course and turn interest into held seats.

The sample business

A twelve-seat omakase counter in the Arts District, run by chef Ren Takeda, with two seatings a night from Tuesday to Saturday. Guests come for one evening at the counter, so the site has to show the work behind the meal and make holding seats simple.

What the site does

  • Follows the counter's day from the 6:00 fish market to the 10:30 close, marking where it stands now in LA
  • Lays out three menus, Kuro, Hana and Tsuki ($195 to $295), each opening into its full course list
  • Carries the chosen menu straight into the reservation form
  • Shows a calendar of Tuesday to Saturday evenings, with seats left out of twelve for each seating
  • Takes guests, seating, menu and email, checks availability, then holds the seats with no card taken

Pages

  • Opening (the whole site is one page) — headline, reserve button, dinner nights and seating times
  • Experience — how the counter works and what shapes the menu
  • Seasonal sourcing and a day at the counter — the timeline from the morning market to close, now marked
  • Tasting menus — three menus, each opening into its full course list with a select button
  • Our story — the room and the chef, with a quote that fills in as you scroll
  • Reservations — a calendar of open nights, guests, menu, seating and email, then a seat hold

How it moves

  • An ink brush stroke sweeps across and 黒花 settles in gold before the page lifts
  • Steam drifts over the counter while the hero photo pushes in slowly
  • The day's timeline stays pinned while the photo changes at each step
  • The chef's quote fills in word by word as you scroll

Who it suits

  • Omakase and sushi counters with set seatings
  • Chef's tasting-menu restaurants
  • Small fine-dining rooms and supper clubs that sell seats by the night
  • Korean hansik, kaiseki and other course-based dining

Make it yours

Swap in your name, logo, chef and room photos, menus and prices, nights, seating times and address. Connect your domain; the seat-hold form can be connected to your email or to a reservation service such as Tock or Resy. You could also add a sake or wine pairing option, or a gift card page.

  • Use it as isYour name, logo, photos and details go in, your domain is connected, and it opens with this design.
  • Build on itKeep what works for you and we change the rest around your business: layout, colors, pages and features.

Taken as it is, this demo is a Basic build. See what each level includes →

The business is fictional: names, addresses and phone numbers are samples. The site itself works as you see it.
