Why it was built

Built for a small neighborhood shop that runs on regulars, phone calls and takeout. The site has to answer what is cooking, whether it is open and how to get there, with a call button never far away.

The sample business

A small pork gukbap and sundae-guk shop on Olympic Boulevard that never closes. Regulars want to know three things, what is in the pot, whether it is open right now and how to get there, so the whole site fits on one page and answers them in that order.

What the site does

  • Opens on the shop name as a sign over the door, with call and takeout buttons in the first screen
  • Shows six signature dishes with large Korean names, English names and a line on each
  • Puts the full menu board up as an image that opens full size, the same board as the wall
  • Says open 24 hours, 7 days, with a line that follows the time in Los Angeles
  • Gives the address, cross street, parking and a drawn neighborhood map with directions
  • Ends on the shop's Instagram feed

Pages

  • One page — hero with the shop name as a sign, a call button and a takeout button
  • About — two lines on the shop's history and how the soup is made
  • Signature dishes — six dishes with Korean and English names and a line on each
  • Menu board — the wall menu as an image that opens full size
  • Hours — open 24 hours, with a line that follows the time in Los Angeles
  • Visit — address, cross street, parking, phone, a drawn map and directions
  • Instagram — a photo grid that links to the shop's feed

How it moves

  • Steam rises slowly out of the cast-iron pot in the hero photo
  • Sections rise into place once as you scroll
  • Dish photos zoom in slightly on hover and the header turns solid once you scroll

Who it suits

  • Gukbap, seolleongtang and other soup shops
  • Neighborhood restaurants that live on regulars and takeout
  • Late-night and 24-hour restaurants
  • Small shops that want a simple, clean first website

Make it yours

Swap in the shop's name, dish photos, menu board, hours, address and parking. Connect the domain, set the call button to the shop's number and connect the takeout button to the online ordering link it uses. One idea is a daily special line right under the sign.

  • Use it as isYour name, logo, photos and details go in, your domain is connected, and it opens with this design.
  • Build on itKeep what works for you and we change the rest around your business: layout, colors, pages and features.

Taken as it is, this demo is a Basic build. See what each level includes →

The business is fictional: names, addresses and phone numbers are samples. The site itself works as you see it.
